History of Boxing Day

Boxing Day was a time when the poor would go to their masters and give them gifts in exchange for boxes. The custom of giving Christmas boxes is what gave rise originally, but it didn't stop there! Servants also had days off on Boxing day so they could share these presents with friends or family members too-a tradition that continues today.
